Tropical Cyclone Hola has intensified and predicted to change direction,according to the Vanuatu Meteorological and Geo-Hazards Department (VMGD).
VMGD stated that the movement of TC Hola is predicted to change direction from West South West (WSW) to a Southerly direction and will affect islands west on Vanuatu’s map.
“The movement has intensified up to 15 kmph since yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon.”
Damaging gale force winds and very rough to phenomal seas and swells will continue to affect SANMA, PENAMA, MALAMPA and SHEFA provinces.
Destructive storm force winds of 110 KM/HR ( 60 Knots), gusting to 160 KM/HR (85 Knots) are expected to affect Pentecost, Ambrym, Malekula, Paama, Epi and the Shepherds group.
Heavy rainfalls, thunderstorm and flash flooding over low lying areas and areas close to river banks including coastal flooding are expected to continue to affect these provinces.
VMGD has told Daily Post that they have recieved a call report from West of Epi on a few gardens damaged by TC Hola and reports on TC Hola damages on the islands of Pentecost, Ambae, Ambrym and Malekula were also posted on social media.
The Meteo department has advised that TC Hola will leave Vanuatu’s territory after Friday.
