Tanna’s 700 metres concrete road contract signed

The stretch from Lowanialu to Kings Cross Road on Tanna will be paved with reinforced concrete and works are scheduled to commence in January next year.

Last Friday, Minister of Public Utilities and Infrastructure Jotham Napat signed the contract agreement with Fletcher Construction, which won the tender to undertake construction works.

With funding provided by the World Bank, a representative from the Public Works Department confirmed the financial assistance of Vt89,438,625 towards this project is both a loan and a grant.

The 700 metres section of concrete road construction is taking approximately six months to be completed.

Upon its completion, the road will significantly improve the condition of the road between Lenakel and the East Coast and access to the volcano.
