Speaker urges parliamentarians to attend workshop today

The Speaker of Parliament, Esmon Saimon, urged all parliamentarians attending the Second Extraordinary Session to attend a workshop on budget to be held today (Wednesday) at the Convention Centre, just near Parliament.

Speaker Saimon told parliamentarians that it is important for them to get some insights on the budget process so that they can make meaningful contributions during budget debates.

He stressed that most of the time Members of Parliament (MPs) get invitation to attend such important workshops but they did not turn up at all.

He encouraged all MPs not to miss out on today’s workshop, which starts at 8am and finishes at 11.30am.

The workshop is organised by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and part of its objective is to inform the MPs on their rights and increase understanding on the budget process.

The Speaker announced after the Motion of No Confidence against Prime Minister Charlot Salwai yesterday that the Second Extraordinary Session will resume today at 2pm.
