Search for missing family continues

The search for the four missing members of a family on Ambrym is still ongoing.

A mother and her 4-year-old son, a 10-year-old boy and a 17-year old girl went missing on two canoes just before midday on Saturday.

Commander Maritime, Ioan Collin Kaluatman said they activated their search and rescue operation after receiving the report of missing people on Sunday.

Commander Maritime Kaluatman and Commander North, Willie Samuel confirmed Patrol Boat Turorua is continuing the search within the waters of Ambrym and South Malekula.

Bule Obed, a close relative of the missing people told Daily Post yesterday that their relatives are waiting in hope and praying for the rescue of their loved ones.

Mr. Kaluatman said his men on board the patrol boat are doing their best to locate the missing people.

He added the search and rescue operation will continue again today and if the missing family members are not located, they will call off the search operations tonight.
