Police investigate Ambae disaster relief operation

Police have revealed their investigations into aid allegedly being stolen by some staff of the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) covers not only aid received after Cyclone Pam, but also the Ambae disaster relief operation.

This comes as a complaint over missing aid items was lodged with the police.

Subsequently, a search warrant has been executed and police recovered some of these items from properties in Port Vila.

The accused officers are senior staff of NDMO, entrusted to coordinate aid distribution during disasters.

As reported in our first article on this, the officers have been charged for allegedly stealing relief supplies intended to help people in the aftermaths of cyclone Pam.

Police investigations into the aid theft allegations continue.
