Warning to illegal harvesters Conservation is the action when a person preserves, protects and restores a part of the environment.

Conservation covers environment, vegetables, and wild life in the sea and on land.

There are conservation signs for public awareness not to remove certain animals or plants in an area under conservation.

Vanuatu Police has been dealing with many kinds of issues where people are not respecting conservation areas by ignoring the signs.

Bukura is one area under threat. The Fisheries Department has marked Bukura as a conservation area and the property belongs to Dr Bill Jam.

There were notices given out by the Police to chiefs and elders of areas like Bukura, Melemaat, Mele and Blacksand to talk with their communities and stopped them from accessing areas under conservation.

Dr Bill Jam noticed people trespassing in his property and there is no respect shown after awareness given by the heads of the communities.

Acting Officer in Charge for Police District South (OCPDS), Superintendent George Songi is giving out the last warning to residents of Bukura, Melemaat, Mele, Blacksand and other areas around Port Vila who go fishing, dive and collecting sea shells in the conservation area, that the Police will closely monitor and makes sure any person entering the conservation area will face the full force of the law and ensures that the law will prevail. ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
