Phone thief nabbed

A young man of around 20-years-old has been apprehended by police in Port Vila following theft of high value items such as mobile phones.

The estimated value of items stolen was around Vt2 million.

The man who is reportedly from Tongoa, stole expensive mobile phones that normally sell at around Vt60,000 to Vt90,000 from shops near the University of the South Pacific round-about (Computer World) and the new shops in the centre of town next to Au Bon Marche Downtown.

Police have also apprehended people that bought the stolen goods and taken them into the police station for questioning.

Police suspect the young man has an accomplice and they were questioning him yesterday to reveal the identity of the man who assisted him to rob the shops.
