Paama chief claims Port Vila land

A Paama chief has vowed to lodge an appeal to the Supreme Court if necessary to give at least 30 days to other interested parties who might have an interest to lodge applications over Port Vila town.

Chief Toforo Mera told Daily Post that he and other members of public have agreed that it would be better to give time for other parties to appeal any judgement that will be handed down on September 14, 2018.

Chief Mera was not involved in the original battle with other claimants from the Shepherd Islands but said he already had his claim filed in court ready for another battle with the parties the court rule in their favour on September 14, 2018.

He added his family is ready to claim for Kuwae and Port Vila town.

The battle over the Port Vila land is an interesting case that is pending before the court for a while.

It is expected that the parties who win the case will share the payment of the land in Vanuatu’s capital.
