Penama Head of Agriculture Extension Office, Joel Kalnpel, addresses Minister on plight of Penama Meat and Fish Market

By Len Garae

Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Forests, Fisheries and Biosecurity (MALFFB), Matai Seremaiah is confident a local business at Saratamata can take over the Penama Meat and Fish Market to turn it into a money making business

What the Minister has in mind is a business based at Saratamata with solid financial standing, to deal direct with cattle farmers in Luganville who can supply the Market with fresh meat on a regular basis.

He says in this way the meat and fish market will always be open for business.

The Provincial Government gets its share of the business while the manager also makes money in the process.

Penama has a lot of fish in its waters but not enough cattle left in the plantations.

While speaking his mind on the future of the facility, the Minister says he leaves the decision in the capable hands of the authorities in charge of the Penama Meat and Fish Market.
