Minister orders inquiry into HXM fuel depot construction

Minister of Internal Affairs, Alfred Maoh, has appointed a three man team to investigate the Port Vila Municipal Council’s (PVMC) decision to allow the construction of the refueling depot next to the HXM Shop at Freshwota 1 area.

The inquirers are Alul Fanbir, Reginald Tabi and Emily Tumukon.

Their task is to inquire into, report and ascertain whether the activities of the council regarding the process of issuing for a depot for refueling vehicles have been carried out in accordance with the Municipalities Act [CAP 126], the Ministerial instructions and the Environmental Impact Assessment Report and any other relevant acts.

Members of the inquiry team have been authorized to allowed access to all legal documents, correspondences, Ministerial instructions, notices and any other information deemed necessary by the team.

A final report of the findings of this inquiry is expected to be prepared and handed over to the Minister of Internal Affairs on or before December 4, 2017.

The inquirers are doing the job without any remuneration associated with the job to be done.
