Reducing crime in Port Vila is one of the main concerns of the newly appointed Minister of Internal Affairs, Hosea Nevu.
Minister Nevu expressed concern over the growing criminal activities during his first visit to the Port Vila Municipal Council following his appointment.
The minister instructed Mayor Sumptoh Ulrich and his administration to deliberate on a plan to fight crime to ensure security prevails in the city.
Minister Nevu urged the council to work closely with other agencies such as police, Non-Government Organisations, the church and communities, to reduce crime, disorder and improve neighbourhoods.
Apart from maintaining security, Minister Nevu has assured the mayor and administration he would work closely with the council to improve the city’s waste management practices as well as to tackle current administration and management issues.
