Lord Mayor Daniel thanks business community for successful Port Vila Day

Port Vila Lord Mayor, Albert Daniel said Port Vila Day would not have been successful, if it had not been for the business houses in Port Vila who had responded positively to requests.

“On behalf of my council, i would like to thank the Chinese Community and business houses for putting a smile on the faces of the people of Port Vila when they gathered together at the Sea Front to celebrate the birth of their Municipality 43 years ago,” Mr Daniel said.

When congratulating the business houses Mr Daniel made special mention about Societe de Petroleum, Pacific Supplies, TVL, and Bred Bank who said this year were the main sponsors of Port Vila Day.

“These companies and business houses made it possible for Port Vila citizens take part in petanque competitions free, tug of war competitions free, sell their products with under a shelter for free, take part in string band competition for free and at the end of the day they get prizes for participation,” the Lord Mayor said.

Mayor Daniel said he also welcomed the decision by the government not to declare Port Vila Day a public holiday because in that way business houses were bustling as normal and Port Vila celebrated its 43rd anniversary outside the main street along the City.

Port Vila Day is now celebrated on the 11th of June.
