A frustrated customer of Air Vanuatu has blamed the “poor services” of Air Vanuatu for cutting short plans of tourists who wanted to visit other islands during their holiday.

The customer who is a local tour guide accompanied two tourists on Gaua Island for several days and were scheduled to return to Port Vila on Sunday.

He said it was after checking in when they were informed that there would not be any flight that day, and no explanation was given to justify that.

They tried calling the airport in Port Vila on Sunday, but the calls went unanswered, he claimed.

The tour guide is very upset as the two tourists had plans to visit Malekula and Aneityum, but, that has to be cancelled because their flight was delayed by two days. They arrived back in Port Vila yesterday.

He said while the Tourism Office and TVET are making efforts to promote tourism activities up north, Air Vanuatu should also do its best to offer the best services to its customers, particularly tourists.

The tour guide claimed that this was not the first time to have encountered with similar problem with Air Vanuatu.

“Such poor services are already painting a bad image for us.

“Those tourists have missed the opportunity to visit places they have been planning and saving up for, for a long time.”

He questioned why such problems continue to occur especially when air fares are already expensive.

He added that it is even more disappointing when Air Vanuatu failed to provide reasons why the flight had been cancelled.
