Iririki Island Resort goes off-the-grid

Iririki Island Resort has gone off-the-grid; having its own electricity generated on site from solar power.

The resort has been operating sufficiently without reliance on UNELCO since last week.

The decision to operate independently was part of major renovations following its closure after cyclone Pam.

The opening of the solar plant was held on Thursday this week by the Minister of Energy, Ham Lini.
