Police in Luganville have confirmed the arrests of two men, both grandparents in a village on north east Ambae, for incest and jailed at the Correctional Service in the Northern Town.

The arrests took place last year but it is only now that the information has been leaked to the media.

The men were arrested by police from Saratamata and transferred to Luganville Correctional Centre.

Sources from Lolowai say one of the offender who is a prominent community leader, was arrested following a disclosure from the victim.

According to the sources, the victim confided to her cousin. Her cousin in turn told her father who was reported to have acted without delay by reporting his brother to the police at Saratamata.

Both men were prosecuted and found guilty and jailed.
