Duviara not below Manaro

A former Editor of the now de-funct Vanuatu Weekly, Japheth Tavoa, says an article headlined “Spring water discovered near Manaro” carried by Daily Post on May 16, consists of two errors.

He explains, “Duviara village is not really below Manaro Vui volcano. The village, in the Ambanga area is situated between 9 to 10 kilometres North East of the volcano.

“Also, the spring water is not a new discovery. It has been there ever since.

“Because of the water crisis due to the Manaro disaster, people in the village cleared up the source again to fetch water”.

Tavoa, a retired senior member of staff of the Department of Foreign Affairs, is believed to be the first New Hebridean Wellington Polytechnic trained pioneer print journalist for many years before his transfer to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Tavoa comes from Ambanga in North Ambae where Duviaga village is located.

Daily Post wishes to thank Tavoa for the clarification.
