The appointment of the Director Generals (DG) for the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and the Prime Minister Office (PMO) is expected soon, said the Chairman of the Public Service Commission (PSC), Martin Mahe.
The first DGs for seven ministries were announced by PSC two weeks ago.
Mr Mahe said he wants to assure the public that there is no political preference in the appointment of those DGs.
He said they are selected based on merit.
The process involving nomination, selection and appointment was transparent, he said.
“The nominations and selections were made by independent panels appointed by PSC and headed by DGs with public and private sector representatives.
“PSC made the appointments based on the recommendation from the panels.
“Those DGs came into the ministries with high academic backgrounds and a lot of experience from serving in the public service and regional and international arenas”, he said.
Chairman Mahe said all the appointments of the DGs will be made before 2019.He encouraged staff in each ministries to unite and work closely with their new DGs.
Mahe said new Secretary Generals for provinces, Town Clerks for municipalities and Government Directors will also be appointed soon.
