The Acting Speaker of Parliament, Samson Samsen, confirmed to the Daily Post yesterday afternoon that he has responded to the request of the leaders and members of the Opposition Group in Parliament, asking for an urgent calling for Parliament to discuss the 2016 budget.

He said he is in consultation with the Prime Minister on the matter and will come back to the Opposition group after this.

In the meantime, the Acting Speaker of Parliament said he is calling on both the Opposition and the Government to place the importance of the national interest first in the light of the current situation in the country and call on both parties to work together towards an amicable solution for the good of the nation.

He added that he is prepared to meet with either party to discuss the request at hand.
