About the Opportunity
The Forum Secretariat is now looking for a full-time Resource Economist to join the team in Suva, Fiji.
Reporting to the Director Programmes & Initiatives, this job exists to provide economic analysis and policy advice
on the various regionalism priorities as determined through the Pacific Island Forum decision making processes.
Specific tasks to be undertaken by the position holder will be outlined in the Secretariat’s work plan to deliver on
the decisions and mandates of the PIF Leaders and Ministers, and other relevant meetings. Some key areas of
responsibility will include (but will not be limited to):
Research and Development; and
Technical Advice and Support
The Forum Secretariat seeks an individual with regional economic knowledge and expertise with an advanced
degree in Economics, specialisation in Resource/Development Economics or a relevant discipline. Candidates
should also have demonstrated direct practical experience of at least 8 years with economic policy development,
programming and analysis capacity building
About the Benefits
The appointment carries a competitive remuneration and benefits package including medical and life insurance.
The salary will be in the range of SDR 41,064 to SDR 61,597 per annum. At the 1 May 2018 exchange rate this
salary range was equivalent to FJD121,743 to FJD182,618.
For non-Fijian nationals, this salary may be tax-free. To be eligible for this position, the applicant must be a national
of one of the following Forum member countries*. Applicants must be willing to travel periodically via economy
